Location of the Job: Nasarawa, Nigeria with 90% travel across Husk Plants and potential Plant locations.

Reports to: COO, dotted line Project Manager

Husk is seeking a Project Quality Coordinator who will oversee the quality assurance and quality control processes for installing mini-grid systems. This role involves ensuring that all installation activities meet the required standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements while promoting best practices within the team.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality management plan for mini-grid installations.
  • Define quality metrics and establish benchmarks for project performance.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to assess compliance with quality standards.
  • Review installation processes and identify areas for improvement.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, test results, and non-conformance reports.
  • Prepare regular quality reports for stakeholders, outlining findings and recommendations.Training and Development:
  • Provide training to installation team members on quality standards and best practices.
  • Facilitate workshops to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Liaise with project managers, site leads, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on quality objectives.
  • Act as a point of contact for quality-related inquiries and concerns.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure adherence to local, national, and international standards and regulations related to mini-grid installations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in quality standards.

Problem Solving:

  • Investigate and resolve quality issues and discrepancies promptly.
  • Implement corrective actions and preventive measures to avoid recurrence of issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • 4 – 7 years Proven experience in quality control/assurance, preferably in renewable energy or electrical installations.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and methodologies (e.g., ISO standards).
  • Excellent analytical, proactiveness and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Enthusiasm for promoting best practices in quality management.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices in the field.
  • Commitment to ensuring a safe work environment for all team members.
  • Awareness of local customs and practices, especially in diverse project locations.
  • Strong eyesight to conduct detailed inspections and identify potential issues.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
  • Ability to walk or traverse uneven terrain at installation sites.
  • Climbing ladders and accessing elevated areas for site assessments.
  • Lifting and carrying equipment or tools
  • Assisting in the setup and inspection of installations as needed.
  • Willingness to work long hours, especially during critical project phases.
  • Potential for irregular schedules, including weekends and evenings.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
  • Working in remote or rugged environments, which may require travel.
  • Ability to navigate construction sites and understand site layouts.

Location and Travel

  • This role is based in North central, Nigeria.
  • This position may require occasional travel to project sites or supplier locations.
  • Negotiable based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
