About the ESI Undergraduate Research Grant
The ESI Undergraduate Research Grant was introduced to close the gap between academic knowledge and practical research among students in STEM fields. The program empowers undergraduates by providing financial support to carry out innovative research projects while still in school.
For the 2025 edition, selected students will receive funding of up to ₦100,000 to support their research expenses, including project materials, data collection, and related costs. The goal is to nurture critical thinking, promote problem-solving, and encourage the development of solutions that address real challenges in Nigeria.
Requirements and Eligibility
To be considered for the 2025 grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- STEM undergraduates in Nigerian universities
- Must be in final year by the application deadline
- Must have at least a Second Class Upper CGPA
- Must provide a personal statement (max. 250 words) outlining project details, justification, and budget (≤ ₦100,000)
- Must submit a supporting letter from the supervisor.

One-time grant for the duration of the final-year research project (Sept 2025 – Feb 2026).
