Youth Initiative for Advocacy, Growth & Advancement (YIAGA) aka Youth Action Initiative Africa is a youth-based non-governmental organization that promotes democratic governance, human rights and youth political participation. YIAGA focuses on in-depth research, capacity development and public policy advocacy.

Role: Digital Design Officer

Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Duration of Initial Contract: Four (4) Months

The position is for a four-month period, subject to renewal based on performance and funding availability. The post holder would be expected to work 40 hours a week. The position has a competitive salary as obtainable in the industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributing to all elements of corporate and programme design work while upholding corporate and national brand guidelines.
  • Creating content for Yiaga Africa’s websites, publications, and social media channels; reviewing and updating these platforms on a regular basis.
  • Ensure digital designs are optimized for a range of devices, including desktops, smartphones, and tablets 
  • Monitoring the Yiaga Africa social media accounts and working with the Communications Manager in pre-planning content for these channels.
  • Using specialist knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation and Google Analytics continuously improves the organization’s digital presence
  • Assisting with providing digital coverage at Yiaga Africa events including promotion on social media, and developing video and written records of key events.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of the external operating environment and respond to advancements in technology and working practices
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Design, Fine Arts, or a related field 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience is required..
  • Proven graphic design experience 
  • A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics 
  • Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Coreldraw) 
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines 

Language Requirements

Fluency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in French and/or any other language will be a plus.
