About BRIDGE Program
The BRIDGE Program (Building Research and Innovation for Development and Global Engagement) is an ambitious initiative by the Federal Ministry of Education designed to strengthen global academic ties, promote cutting-edge research collaborations, and provide Nigerian institutions and scholars with the resources they need to thrive internationally.
Backed by strategic partnerships and international development agencies, the BRIDGE Program opens doors for Nigerian researchers, educators, and institutions to engage in collaborative projects with universities and research centers across the globe.
Eligibility Criteria
To ensure inclusivity and strategic alignment, the Program sets clear eligibility benchmarks:
For Individuals:
- Must be a Nigerian citizen currently affiliated with an accredited Nigerian higher institution.
- Must hold at least a Master’s degree for research-based collaborations; a PhD is preferred.
- Proven track record of academic excellence or published research.
- Commitment to knowledge exchange and capacity-building within Nigeria.
For Institutions:
- Must be a recognized Nigerian higher education or research institution.
- Should demonstrate readiness to collaborate on international research and academic exchange.
- Must have existing research infrastructure and strategic development goals.
Selection Criteria
Applications are evaluated by a team of national and international education experts based on the following criteria:
- Relevance: Does the project align with national development goals or global academic challenges?
- Feasibility: Can the project be realistically executed within the proposed timeframe and budget?
- Impact: Will the project lead to measurable academic, research, or societal benefits?
- Sustainability: Are there plans for long-term collaboration or knowledge transfer?
- Gender & Inclusion: Are there efforts to ensure inclusivity in the research team and beneficiaries?
Bonus points are awarded for applications involving underrepresented regions or sectors in Nigeria.
