The National Girls Leadership Essay Competition 2025 is now open for applications. This initiative is a partnership between the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Federal Ministry of Education.
The competition celebrates the International Day of the Girl Child 2025 and provides young Nigerian girls with an opportunity to showcase their leadership skills, creativity, and vision for the future.
About the National Girls Leadership Essay Competition 2025
The goal of the National Girls Leadership Essay Competition 2025 is to identify, mentor, and train young Nigerian girls between the ages of 10 and 20. It focuses on preparing them for leadership roles and empowering them to contribute meaningfully to society.
This year’s theme is:
“The Girl I Am, the Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis.”
Participants are expected to write on the topic:
“Beyond the Stereotype: Nigerian Girls Breaking Barriers with a Toolbox. What role can young girls play in addressing unemployment leveraging vocational skilling; turning challenges into opportunities?”
Essays must not exceed 150 words.
Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the National Girls Leadership Essay Competition 2025, you must:
- Be a female Nigerian citizen.
- Be between 10 and 20 years old.
Benefits of the Competition
Winners of the National Girls Leadership Essay Competition 2025 will enjoy the following opportunities:
- 1st position: Serve as the Minister for Youth Development for 24 hours (Shadow Minister role).
- Top 3 winners: Receive cash prizes and attend the Girls Future Conference (GFC2025).
